St. Dominic's Fair — Crafts and Art

St. Dominic's Fair is the largest annual summer trade and cultural event in Poland, held in Gdansk at the turn of July and August. Founded in 1260, it is one of the oldest fairs in Europe, with over 760 years of tradition. The fair takes place in the heart of Gdansk — along the streets of the Main Town and around Szeroka, Tkacka, Rajska streets, as well as on Olowianka Island.

The fair features hundreds of stalls with handcraft and artisan work. Baltic amber jewellery — a traditional local product — is one of the main attractions. Alongside it you'll find handmade ceramics, wooden toys, textiles, paintings, antiques and unique decorations from creators and artists across Poland and Europe.

Culinary zones offer regional and international cuisine — from traditional Polish delicacies like cheeses, cold cuts, breads and honeys, to dishes from around the world. Special gastronomic events take place, including the Gdansk Flavour Festival with food tastings and culinary competitions.

The fair is not just about trade — it features hundreds of accompanying events: concerts, theatre shows, parades, street performances, children's entertainment, competitions and sports events. The entire festival transforms Gdansk into a vibrant centre of culture and entertainment.

St. Dominic's Fair is considered the most recognisable fair in Poland. Every year it attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors and is compared in scale to famous European events like Oktoberfest. It's a meeting place of local tradition with modern craftsmanship, art and culture — a great tourist destination during summer holidays.
