Jedwab Ręcznie Malowany

It all started with a visit to the Painting Workshop at the Natural Silk Factory in Milanowek. Joanna saw the patterns and colors on silk fabrics and knew she wanted to learn to paint like that. She studied techniques passed down from generation to generation of painters - and so she remained in the world of this noble fabric, woven by silkworms on white mulberry leaves.
Her main technique is watercolor - diluted paint adds lightness and allows for beautiful color transitions. Every pattern is an individual design, each one captivating with its play of saturated hues or delicate pastels. Joanna paints pictures on silk, creates scarves, shawls, blouses and dresses. She has even painted wedding gowns - each one unique.
For years she has been leading workshops for children, teenagers and adults. During classes she shares her knowledge of traditional silk painting methods on pictures, scarves and shawls. She also paints on cotton, linen and wool - t-shirts, napkins, anything that can be adorned with color. She worked as a costume designer's assistant, and ran an art studio for people with disabilities. She has been a member of the Independent Artists' Association, Jedwabny Zakatek, the Silk Museum Association and the Artists' Union at the Zagroda Museum in Brwinow.
