Rumin Art

Jagna Rumin creates ceramics that surprise even herself. When she opens the kiln and looks at the fired work of her hands - she can hardly believe something like that was born. But that is exactly what drives her - the unpredictability that makes every firing an unknown.
A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw, specializing in Art and Design of Ceramics, and previously the Fine Arts High School in Nowy Wisnicz. Born beneath mountain peaks, deeply connected to nature - she draws inspiration from plants, herbs, and leaf textures. Her pieces are not made on a potter's wheel. She shapes them from coils of clay, joined together by hand, giving them a raw, almost medieval character. As she puts it: "My works look like shells from another era."
In her studio in Jamnica near Nowy Sacz, which she shares with her mother Ewa who creates ceramic icons and angels, greens, turquoises and browns dominate, accented with splashes of orange and red. For Jagna, glaze color is just an addition - what matters is the natural beauty of the raw material and the purity of form. She develops her own glazes and loves to experiment with them.

I open the kiln, look at the fired work of my hands, and I can hardly believe something so original was born. But that is exactly what makes it fascinating.
What comes out of Jagna's studio?

Functional ceramics
Bowls, platters, vessels, tableware - every piece is one of a kind. No two are alike. Hand-formed from clay coils, with a distinctive raw character that often prompts the question: which century is this bowl from?
Ceramic jewellery
Rings and necklaces made from clay, finished with her own glazes in shades of green, turquoise and brown. Each element carries the textures of nature - imprinted leaves, herbs, and plant structures.
Workshops and art therapy
Sessions for children, adults and people with disabilities. Jagna guides and shows the way - and what the participants create is a huge source of inspiration for her. Their works are fresh, because they do not worry about things looking perfect.“The truth is, the clay rules me - and I am just a tool to tame it a little.”
