SKRAWKI

Wiki always knew she wanted something of her own, but she never thought she would be sewing. She bought her sewing machine for a single project: a birthday crown for her son's first birthday. The first crowns came out really ugly, but after a few attempts she got it right. When she posted a photo on Instagram, a few messages came in from friends asking whether she could sew one for them too. She probably gets some of her knack for making something out of nothing from her mum, who sewed all her costumes for fancy dress parties at kindergarten and school, and still keeps coming up with ideas. And her dad, whenever he hears "Dad, I've had an idea", smiles and asks what she has come up with this time. Always in the nicest way, because he takes every one of her ideas positively. The name SKRAWKI (Polish for "scraps") starts with S, like her son's name, and it also says what everything is made from: small pieces and leftover fabric. Wiki hunts for fabrics in second-hand shops, preferably ones nobody else would buy. A large duvet cover with a stain is no problem for her: she skips that part and sews from what is pretty. She sits down at the machine in the evenings, once the children are asleep, or during the day for 10 or 15 minutes between nappy changes and pretend cooking games. She does not impose any "you must" on herself and treats it as an adventure, and when something turns out well, she tells herself: "wow, Wiki, that came out great, a scrap of cloth and you turned it into something else".
Wiki believes that things should not end their story when we stop needing them.
What is made from the scraps?

Second-hand products
Wiki would like second-hand things to stop feeling like owning something worse or less valuable. She looks for what has been forgotten, unwanted or deemed useless, and gives it a new form. SKRAWKI is a brand about second chances, for fabrics and for clothes.
Trousers, crowns and scrunchies
Wide-leg trousers for children: Wiki wears this style herself and loves it. Alongside them she makes birthday crowns, where it all began, and scrunchies sewn from fabric left over from earlier projects.
A gift with a story
SKRAWKI is meant to be a place where you can buy a child a present without feeling that second-hand things are not the done thing to give. Handmade things used to be considered a luxury. Wiki thinks it is lovelier to receive something small, made from the heart and given with another person in mind, than something bought out of obligation just because it is expected.“SKRAWKI is a place where something is made out of nothing. A place where old things get a second life and where you can buy a gift with a story.”
